Joining the "fixie" revolution or trying to be a cool old fart?

Have been riding my re-built "fixie" for the last three weeks.

She is loud and bright plus an absolute blast. Steel is real, and a mix of components including Velocity track wheels. Having no problems getting in or out of the Campagnolo pedals. The frame was purchased on eBay and built up by John at Gilberts Cyclery at Bondi Beach - a big thank you to John. Support your local LBS.

At 48 inches I can pedal it up the hills in Sydney's Eastern suburbs - including the imfamous Cranbrook St at Rose Bay.

Note that I might want to be a cool old fart - not a dead old fart - so have added a single brake for the moments of panic or when back pedalling is no longer possible because the hill repeats have become to much. This is vital because the two regular hills also have regular garbage collection in the mornings when I'm punishing myself.

I can feel my legs getting stronger and pedalling action a lot smoother already - not so sure about the coolness factor though.

Thanks to Sheldon Brown and assorted other "fixie" websites / blogs for the inspiration and information.
